Featured Case Study
800 Willowbrook

Sinkholes can form due to natural conditions or utility failures. In limestone areas, rainwater dissolves the rock over time, creating underground voids that eventually collapse. Utility-related sinkholes happen when soil around a broken pipe shifts into the pipe itself, leaving a gap beneath the surface that later gives way. Utility failures are often easier to repair, while sinkholes in limestone areas may require engineered solutions like flowable fill or compaction grouting.
At 800 Willowbrook, the cause was a mix of both. Caliber responded quickly, excavated the area, and discovered an underground retention basin. With no visible limestone but soft soils present, the team worked with a geotechnical engineer to stabilize the site. Compaction grouting was used to fill the void and reinforce the subsurface, ensuring long-term support without extensive excavation.
